WHY I PUBLISH A WEB SITE

I publish because I can. A lame and an inauthentic justification for performance! Whilst a necessary condition, ability should always be guided by careful deliberation. People should not do things simply because they can, many a woe has begun because we fail to contemplate the full consequences of our actions.

So on a more serious note; I publish for three reasons. My first reason is Cartesian (select either dualism or doubt), in other words academic. Developing web content enables me to explore ideas, discuss issues that I am unable to do in other experiential settings and, also, it enables me to gradually develop a portfolio for an interest I have in the provision of information and information design. The relevance of my apologia lies in the rationale that defense is required only for what is under siege - my sense of self. If you know me in other settings and you have just stumbled into my virtual life, I bid you welcome, now you know there is another part of me and it is very real, it thrives on good humor and on logos. My second reason is primarily literary calisthenics - exploring how language may be used imaginatively to solve problems. My third and most important reason is altruistic and it is sharing my huge Internet resources with others that are silenced because of their inability to technologically or logistically harness the vast resources of the World Wide Web. Such persons may contribute to the Open Letter Project or list their businesses in the Small Business Directory.

THE OPEN LETTER PROJECT AND
THE SMALL BUSINESS DIRECTORY

Both projects are moderated. The former will provide a forum for the discussion of issues both real and perceived and will feature articles, short essays, letters, and photographs. Subjects of public interest on society, economics, politics and trivia may be published. The Business Directory is a free publicity tool for small businesses and start-ups. Interested persons may submit on-line forms for inclusion.
